What I want to share is this...
She loves this boy...
She is one of his greatest teachers...
Tonight, I didn't have my phone/camera near me when there was magic taking place. But my girl was reading to my boy, and having him say different colors. And you know what??? He WAS! And to us it was perfect.
Although she knows a great many things about people with Down syndrome, it has never mattered to her that her brother has it. To her, he is just her brother. She wishes I would have many more, girls or boys, just like him.
And they have benefited from having each other in their lives. She has learned the true meaning of what it is to love someone unconditionally. She has learned compassion, and how to be a little more patient, which is not always easy for a second grader. And he has gained so much from her. She shows him the world. She has encouraged him in a way in which we as his parents sometimes are not able to. She gets on his level, so they can view things the same way. She challenges him to try something over and over until he gets it. She plays with him. And sometimes she plays without him, which only encourages him to want to do exactly what she is doing, like jumping rope, or bouncing a ball. And she reads to him, encouraging him to say different words.
Together they are magical to watch. Even when they are not getting along sometimes, cuz that is also what sisters and brothers do.
To us, they are perfect. And God really knew what he was doing by allowing them to be sister and brother. Thank You God! We are loving the magic and wonder of our ordinary days, brought to us by You. :)

This post is PRECIOUS!!!! Love it!!!
Love this post! God did have a master plan! Having a mother that is loving, helps! Doing a great job!
Love the pictures and the post. I have heard it said more than once, children who have siblings with down syndrome, or any type of special needs tend to be more loving, caring, and compassionate than children who do not have a sibling with special needs. It is clear that your daughter is learning as much from her brother, as he is from her :) You have beautiful children.
